How I work
What is counselling like with me?
People I support might come along to a session feeling unsure where to begin.
My thoughts don’t stop coming; I can’t settle; I’m on edge; I am anxious, frightened, scared and I’m not always sure why; this relationship is taking a lot out of me; friendships feel hard; I’m struggling with life right now; I don’t know what to say; I don’t know where to start.
A space to begin
That first session often brings this sense of uncertainty — and that can be scary — but there’s something in the sitting together and working through that can be deeply healing.
The most important part of our work together is the relationship between us: feeling genuinely seen and listened to is the most crucial ingredient to successful therapy outcomes.
Seeking counselling starts with something that is unsettling us — it can be a niggle, a bump in the road we need to work through, or indeed, something that has been with us for a longer time — often issues of complex families, difficult childhoods, the sadness and shame of never quite fitting in, or emotional wounds that are incredibly painful.
Working together
Warmth, validation and acceptance
Whatever it is that brings you here, know that this is a therapeutic space; a space that offers warmth, validation and acceptance. A space where you can bring troubles and begin to explore them at your pace with compassion and curiosity.
My role is to walk alongside you in that journey — offering insights, reflections and tools where they may feel helpful and being a steady presence throughout.
