Grief & Bereavement

Grief can touch every part of our lives, often arriving in ways we do not expect and at times we do not feel prepared for.

Whether you are grieving the death of a loved one, adjusting to a significant life change, or experiencing a more ambiguous loss, counselling can offer a space to pause, reflect and make sense of what you are going through.

Understanding grief

Grief can be present in many forms. It may arise through life transitions such as career changes, retirement, children leaving home, changes in health, or the death of a loved one or beloved pet.

It can also be experienced as a more ambiguous loss, such as supporting a family member living with dementia, where the relationship changes over time. These experiences can bring sadness, confusion, anger, loneliness and uncertainty, often all at once.

Grief may involve

There is no right way to grieve

Bereavement

The death of a loved one and the profound impact this can have on every aspect of life.

Pet loss

The loss of a beloved companion whose presence, comfort and routine were deeply meaningful.

Life transitions

Retirement, children leaving home, career changes or other significant changes in identity and purpose.

Changing health

Adjusting to illness, disability or changes in your own health and future expectations.

Ambiguous loss

Grieving a relationship that is changing due to illness, dementia or circumstances beyond your control.

Unspoken grief

Losses that may not always be recognised or understood by others, but still carry deep emotional impact.

A compassionate space to process loss

As a specialist grief counsellor and former supervisor of bereavement support groups, I understand how grief can make life feel turbulent, distant and frightening.

Grief does not follow a timetable, nor does it move neatly through stages. It can feel overwhelming one day and strangely quiet the next. Counselling offers a space where your experience can be explored without judgement, pressure or expectation.

If you need a space to pause, reflect and make sense of what you are experiencing, we can hold that together with compassion and care in our sessions.

Taking the next step

You do not have to carry grief on your own

Whatever form your grief takes, counselling can provide a supportive space to honour your experience, process your emotions and find your own way forward.
