Areas of support
Neurodivergence
A space where you can explore your experiences without judgement, pressure or the expectation to fit a particular mould.
Whether you identify as autistic, ADHD, AuDHD, dyslexic, or are still exploring what neurodivergence means for you, counselling can provide a supportive space to better understand yourself and your experiences.
Understanding your experience
I support students and clients who are neurodivergent to explore what that means to them. This often involves unlearning some of the harmful messages, assumptions and expectations they may have absorbed about their ways of thinking, feeling and being in the world.
Together, we can create a space where you are welcomed exactly as you are. A space where there is no expectation to perform, mask or explain yourself in ways that feel uncomfortable or exhausting.
Areas we may explore
Supporting an authentic life
Masking
Exploring the impact of masking and the exhaustion that can come from constantly adapting yourself to meet the expectations of others.
Burnout & overwhelm
Understanding your capacity, recognising early signs of burnout and developing strategies to protect your wellbeing.
Special interests
Recognising and celebrating the importance of interests, passions and sources of joy that bring meaning and regulation.
Rejection sensitivity
Considering the impact of rejection sensitive dysphoria (RSD), self-criticism and the fear of getting things wrong.
Executive functioning
Exploring practical ways to support organisation, planning, motivation and managing daily demands.
Identity & self-acceptance
Developing greater understanding of yourself and building confidence in living more authentically.
How counselling may help
Neurodivergence is not something that needs fixing. Many of the challenges people bring to therapy arise from navigating environments, expectations and systems that were not designed with their needs in mind.
Counselling can offer an affirming space to better understand your experiences, recognise your strengths, develop self-compassion and find ways of living that feel more sustainable, meaningful and authentic.
Taking the next step
You deserve a space where you can be yourself
Whether you have a formal diagnosis, are questioning whether you may be neurodivergent, or simply want a space to better understand yourself, you are welcome to get in touch.
