Anxiety & Overthinking
Are you somebody who feels like they are too much? Or not enough?
Do you feel that you have to get everything right? Do you find yourself overthinking conversations, replaying interactions, or ruminating on events long after they have happened?
Understanding anxiety and overthinking
Many clients come to therapy carrying beliefs such as these about themselves. Together, we explore where these beliefs may have come from, how they have shaped your experiences, and whether they still serve you.
Through this process, we can begin to offer something different — often something kinder, more compassionate, and more aligned with your authentic self.
How it can show up
When your mind will not settle
Racing thoughts
Feeling as though your thoughts do not stop, making it hard to rest, focus or feel settled.
Overthinking
Replaying conversations, worrying about what you said, or ruminating on events of the day.
Self-criticism
Feeling that you are too much, not enough, or that you have to get everything right.
Hypervigilance
Feeling constantly on edge, alert to what might go wrong, or unable to fully relax.
Withdrawal
A reluctance to get involved with things, relationships or opportunities because it all feels too much.
Exhaustion
Pushing beyond your own capacity, trying to keep going, and feeling depleted as a result.
How counselling may help
Anxiety, low mood, poor self-esteem, hypervigilance and overthinking can feel debilitating and impact heavily on day-to-day living.
Our work together is about bringing something different to your experiencing. We can begin to understand these patterns with curiosity and compassion, explore where they may have come from, and gently develop new ways of responding to yourself and the world around you.
Taking the next step
You do not have to figure this out alone
If anxiety, overthinking or self-criticism are affecting your everyday life, counselling can offer a supportive space to begin making sense of what is happening.
